Community Service
Did you know that the student scholarship to Wauwatosa high school seniors has been the anchor of the club’s philanthropic giving since the club’s inception? We are proud to continue the scholarship program while expanding our support to a variety of meaningful causes. Community Services has had a successful year so far. We thank everyone who donated items to help others in need. Click on the link below to connect with a community service committee member for more information on how you can participate.
- From September to January, we collected many items for the children at Children’s Hospital. The small items are given to the children when they come in for a visit and it makes the visit a little less stressful for them.
- In September, a group of Wauwatosa Women’s Club members walked in the Susan Komen Cancer Walk.
- In October, we asked children from Jefferson, Wilson and Lincoln schools to make cards for veterans that went on the November Honor Flight. These cards were given to the veterans during the mail call on their return flight. We received so many special cards made by students as well as some from the women at the club.
- In December, we collected Toys for Tots. Our club was very generous with toys donated.
- We have women who have been busy knitting hats and blankets for babies at St. Joseph’s Hospital, along with sewing items to be given to cancer patients at Ascension Hospital. We can always use more volunteers. If interested, please link to contact shown below.
- In January, a group of members made bag lunches for people staying at Kathy’s House. We hope to do this again in spring. If interested, please use contact link below.
- We will continue to collect food for the Tosa Food Pantry as well as pill bottles and pull-tabs.
- We have a new organization that we will be focusing on. We will be collecting items for Wauwatosa students who are in need of items that we all take for granted. By donating these items, it makes life a bit less stressful for these students in their everyday life. Please check Eblast for more information on items that are needed.
- Finally, for anyone who likes to sew, or for people willing to cut and assemble, we will be making pillowcases for an organization called Ryan’s Case for Smiles. The pillowcases are given to children while they are in the hospital and they get to take them home when leaving the hospital. If interested in helping, please use contact link below.
